Daily Thought:
"Nephi is an example of one who knew, understood and relied upon the enabling power of the Savior...It is especially interesting to me that Nephi did not pray...to have his circumstances changed. Rather, he prayed for strength to change his circumstances. And may I suggest, that he prayed precisely in this manner because he knew, understood and had experienced the enabling power of the Atonement of the Savior".
-Elder David A. Bednar
Scriptures:
1st Nephi 7:
1-2: -Why was Nephi commanded to bring Ishmael and his family into the wilderness with him?
* Because they were righteous
* Nephi and his brothers could take Ishmael's daughters as their wives.
5: -How did Ishmael react?
The Lord softened his heart so he listened. He followed Nephi because his heart was softened.
6-7: In your mind, imagine that you are Nephi and in is situation. Imagine being tied up and having your entire family turned against you.
- How would you react? -What would you do?
8-12: -What is Nephi's reaction?
Nephi feels grief and wonders why the younger brother has to be the example.
-Why does Nephi grief?
His family's hearts are hard. They are not as Ishmael who softened his heart.
16-17: -What happens to Nephi?
He is bound and abandoned in the wilderness.
-What does Nephi do?
Pray for the strength to change his circumstances.
-How can you apply Nephi's example in your life? How could this example benefit you?
Note: Hey guys, I apologize for not having any Seminary notes for Thursday, September 5th, 2013 because I didn't attend. I'll see what I can do to get notes for that day, and when I have them, I will post them ASAP. Have a wonderful weekend :)
